To search for a midwife by name you should enter the surname or part of the surname that you are sure is spelt correctly and click on the Search button.
You should not enter a first name unless this is necessary to reduce a long list. Definitely do not enter a town.
To find a list of midwives in a certain area select a town from the dropdown list. You will have to search on all of the towns in your area of interest. Regions are not included, for example Auckland refers to Auckland City and will not include midwifes from North Shore City or Manukau City.
The results list produced following a search will show if a midwife has a current practising certificate. More information about a midwife can be found by clicking on More at the right. This will show all of the information that the Council is able to give out concerning individual midwives.
This is a copy of the Register of Midwives. It is updated at least weekly, daily in busy periods.
